Blizzard has announced that it will be opening new, fresh servers for WoW Classic. But there is a restriction here: GDKP are directly banned as a loot system. Blizzard has tried this before, but the community has always found ways to circumvent the bans.
What are GDKP?
This is what Blizzard says about the new realms: “Fresh Servers” for WoW Classic will be launched on November 21st. These begin the entire journey of Classic again and will eventually transition into The Burning Crusade, as with the first relaunch.
However, in the forum post, community manager Kaivax writes directly that GDKP will be banned, at least in America and Europe. However, this could also happen later in other regions. Kaivax writes:
We understand that there are certain advantages for those who [GDKP] consider it a convenient way to get loot. We also recognize that there are concerns surrounding GDKP disrupting the traditional guild and social structure […]
GDKP are already banned in the Season of Discovery and on hardcore servers. The community manager says that the feedback has been largely positive and corresponds to internal findings. We continue to monitor the progress.
GDKP bring big problems
After Blizzard banned the loot system in the new versions of WoW Classic, players quickly found ways to get around the ban. For example, they simply bid with items instead of gold, which in the end results in the same thing.
According to Blizzard, the problem with the GDKP is that it is “excellent money laundering”. Gold that was purchased with real money contrary to the terms of use can easily be brought into the community without being able to track it or remove it again.
The feeling has arisen in the community that without buying gold with real money you no longer have a chance of keeping up. Blizzard wants to counteract this directly on the new servers.
The main realms of WoW Classic are now receiving new, old content: after the Cataclysm expansion is currently running, things will continue soon. Mists of Pandaria is one of the most popular WoW addons, but the big reveal apparently missed the mark a little: WoW is bringing Mists of Pandaria Classic – but absolutely no one is surprised
