Only one match was played in the Ice Hockey Championship League on Thursday evening.
JYP, which was at the bottom of the Ice Hockey League at the beginning of the season, got a sweet success under its belt on Thursday, when it beat Kiekko-Espo, one of the sensational successes of the autumn season, 4-1 in the away arena.
The key code of the point capture was built by the hurricane shirts with superiority. The decisive difference was also found at the goal mouth.
The goalkeeper who was one of Kiekko-Espoo’s key players in the fall Petteri Rimpinen instead, the hosts’ net was guarded by a Swedish defenseman Marcus Hellgren-Smed. He missed JYP, who played opposite Oskari Salminen into the shade.
Salminen, who switched from SaiPa to JYP in the middle of the current season, accompanied by Kohusirro, became the character of the match. With his 27 saves, he kept the home team from Espoo quite perfect as a chaser. The visitors’ opening goal was followed by a period of possession by the hosts, which was crowned by a two-on-one attack to equalize at 1-1.
Salminen was left so alone in the situation that there were practically no conditions to save the shot from the back post into the half-empty goal.
In the second period, JYP couldn’t get the puck into the goal despite numerous good blanks. Salminen was very successful at SaiPa, now with his help, JYP has broken its losing streak and is aiming for better.
The visiting team was also sure to remember that Thursday night’s tally included two hits during Kiekko-Espoo’s cooldown: Valtteri Ojantakanen and Juuso Puustisen paints.
