The commission investigating the treatment of Sami and marginalized groups previously reported that many belonging to minorities have lost their language due to the Norwegianization policy.
This week, the Storting decided to apologize for the treatment of the Sami, Kven, Norwegian Finns and Forest Finns.
Organization Unge Skogfinner in Norway was founded at the beginning of this year. According to the organisation’s chairman Marikken Bruvold, the Storting’s apology is a nice gesture towards Norway’s national minorities and the Sami.
– With this, we hope that the visibility of the Norwegian forest finders will increase, says Bruvold to SVT Nyheter.
