Pokémon TCG Pocket: How to put together a good deck
With the following tips you should be able to put together a good deck, regardless of what element you use for the deck. If you have no intention of investing time in building your own deck, we’ll tell you how you can get your own deck as quickly as possible.
Balanced deck of Pokémon and Trainer cards
A deck in Pokémon TCG Pocket consists of 20 cards. When putting together the deck, you should make sure to have a balanced mix of supporters, items and Pokémon in the deck. In general, it’s a good idea to shuffle around 12 Pokémon and 8 Trainer cards into the deck.
However, if you put together a deck that relies on the strength of Pokémon that don’t have an evolution level, you should mix fewer Pokémon cards into the deck. This increases your chance of drawing the Pokémon you want faster. These include, for example, Arktos-ex and Pikachu-ex.
Pack important cards twice in the deck
In many tier lists you will see that many of the trainer cards are duplicated in the deck. This is because they have a strong effect, increasing your chance of getting them faster. So pack important cards twice in your deck.
Professor Oak is a card that belongs in every deck in two forms. This allows you to draw two more cards and thus further increase your chance of getting the cards you want.
Uses Pokémon with specific effects
The trainer cards each have certain effects that are helpful in battle. Some Pokémon also have abilities or effects that trigger their attacks. Read carefully what your Pokémon can do and put them together so that they complement each other. For example, the abilities of Arbok and Tauboss complement each other so well that you can determine which opposing Pokémon remains active in battle.
Another example: Gardevoir has the Psychic Shadow ability. This allows Psychic Energy to be attached to the active Pokémon once per turn, in addition to the Energy you draw anyway. This means that Mewtwo-ex gets the energy it needs more quickly to cast the psychic drive. Thanks to Gardevoir, he can do this every round, and not just every second as usual.
