Customers rage at Ica after big mistake: “Dangerous to life”

Customers rage at Ica after big mistake Dangerous to life

The Ica retail chain has approximately 1,300 stores around Sweden. Their stores are available in four different sizes: Ica Maxi, Ica Nära, Ica Kvantum and Ica Supermarket.

The range and size differ between the different store sizes.

Ica Maxi stores, for example, are usually located near busy locations and urban areas, so that customers can easily and conveniently get there.

Pawn chaos at Ica Maxi

News24 have previously written about an Ica Maxi store that experienced deposit chaos recently, which made the customers really annoyed. The deposit machine often breaks down and needs to be repaired by technicians pretty much every week.

According to the store manager, the reason is that customers pawn things that shouldn’t be in a pawn machine. But when the pawn machines repeatedly break down, many customers are not happy.

– It is a sad finding in most cases. “They are always broken”. It’s not always, of course, but the same customer may have had a bit of bad luck and been hit twice when they’ve been here on the weekend and that’s of course sad, says Andreas Ahlqvist to BLT.

Customers rage at Ica after the big mistake

Another Ica Maxi store has also made its customers boil these days. The reason is a human factor error, which could have been devastating.

On Father’s Day, November 10, the store’s bakery had ready-made Father’s Day cakes for customers to buy. But in the days they put out a post on their Facebook page and apologized. The store had an incorrect list of contents on the cakes.

The Ica Maxi store had forgotten to write that the cake contained both wheat flour, sugar, eggs, wheat starch, baking powder and skimmed milk powder.

In their post on Facebook, they wrote:

“Oops!! It’s gone a bit wrong. There are some ingredients missing from the list of ingredients on these cakes we sell for Father’s Day. Of course, it also contains wheat flour, sugar, eggs, wheat starch, baking powder and skimmed milk powder. We apologize for this!”

Customers: “How can you forget…”

Now customers are raving about the Facebook post. Many believe that the store sounds nonchalant in its apology and that the mistake is really big.

“Oops! It’s gone a bit wrong” unfortunately sounds bad to my ears and sounds like you don’t really take the mistake seriously. Someone who is allergic can have an incredibly serious reaction.
The choice of words is important, especially in situations like these!”, writes one person and several fill in.

“Forgetting an ingredient is of course not good either, but unfortunate. Mistakes can happen and mistakes do happen. But how can you forget all that stuff? It’s like 90% of what a cake contains. What did it look like before? A completely blank label with a price on it?”

“Oops!! It’s gone a bit wrong” Perhaps feels like an understatement… Perhaps a warning with a recall would have been more in order…”

“Oops, eggs are really a dangerous allergen to miss”

“Lucky I made my own, otherwise I would have had two grandchildren in the emergency room. You go by the content when you buy and trust it”.

“Had the daughter eaten that cake, there would have been a high risk that she would not be alive today! Downright life-threatening to miss things like this, several serious food allergies that can all be life-threatening for those who are allergic.”

“Understand that it can happen with it can really mean serious preserves for those with allergies spec with wheat flour and eggs.”

After all the comments on the Facebook post, the Ica store has chosen to edit its post.
