Dwayne Johnson defends himself against serious accusations from the Red One set – but admits one bizarre thing

Dwayne Johnson defends himself against serious accusations from the Red

That Dwayne Johnson often times during training pees in water bottlesThe actor himself had already admitted in 2021 that it would be better than taking the long walk to the toilet. In April of this year, he was accused of exhibiting this behavior on film sets in a comprehensive report by The Wrap, in which insiders revealed Johnson’s escapades on the set of the Christmas actioner Red One – Christmas Alert.

However, it wasn’t just about the actor’s quick relief, but above all about regular and drastic tardiness during filming, which supposedly increased the budget $250 million allowed to grow. In an interview with GQ, The Rock clears up the rumors and receives support from co-star Chris Evans and director Jake Kasdan.

Dwayne Johnson peed in water bottles – but was more punctual than the allegations claim

When asked if Johnson actually pees in water bottles every now and then to save time on set, the Red One star gave an honest answer to GQ:

Yes, that happens sometimes … I’ve said it a thousand times: ‘Hey, I’m here. Come here and ask me. I will tell you the truth.’

However, Johnson doesn’t let the accusations about his immense tardiness sit easily in the interview. That’s how he describes the information, he even is on some days seven to eight hours late came on set when “bullsh*t”:

Yes, it happens sometimes [dass ich zu spät komme]. But not to this extent, by the way. That was a totally exaggerated statement. That’s crazy. Ridiculous.

Red One star Chris Evans defends Dwayne Johnson’s behavior on set

In the GQ report, Johnson receives support from Red One director Jake Kasdan, with whom The Rock has already worked three times. Accordingly, the actor was no more late on set than other Hollywood stars:

[Dwayne] never missed a day of work, ever. He has a lot to do. He can be late sometimes, but that’s how it is in Hollywood ‒ That’s how it is with everyone. Honestly, I did three big films with him. I’ve never seen him act anything other than great to every single person on set.

Red One co-star Chris Evans also has nothing but good things to say about Johnson’s behavior on set. The Captain America star has experienced much worse in his career:

Unlike some of the other things I’ve seen with other films and actresses, the […] I found that we are unpredictable Dwayne always knew exactly what he was doing when he did it.

According to Evans, Johnson’s training schedule sometimes extends into the early morning hours on set, but everyone involved was prepared for this:

This is something that the producers, the director and the whole team know. It’s not like he’s unexpectedly late, and I wouldn’t even call it late. Some mornings he comes a little later but that’s part of the plan. This is already worked into everyone’s plan and everyone knows it, so it’s coming exactly when it’s supposed to come.

Furthermore, Evans reveals that Johnson was extremely generous and regular with the entire crew on the Red One set large sums of his salary distributed:

There was maybe four or five thousand dollars in the pot or something, and before they drew the name, Dwayne said, ‘How much is in the pot right now?’ And someone said, ‘I don’t know, four thousand.’ And he said, ‘Let’s do 20 [Tausend] out.’ And the name was drawn and whoever won freaked out. Dwayne was like, ‘You know what? Should we do another one? How about 30 this time?’ Everyone freaked out. And then he was like, ‘You know what? How about more?’ And there were 50. On a Friday Dwayne spent almost $100,000 I believe.

Red One has been in cinemas since November 7, 2024.
