Biography Christopher Ruocchio Novelist

Christopher Ruocchio is the author of The Sun Eater, a fantasy space opera series, and associate editor of Baen Books. Graduated from North Carolina State University with a BA in English Rhetoric with a minor in Classics, he is passionate about history, philosophy and of religion.

A quick take off

Coming from a Catholic family, Christopher has been writing since the age of eight. He spent his education in Catholic schools before joining the University of North Carolina. With his English rhetoric diploma in hand, he became an assistant editor at Bean Book in 2015. His first new Not made for us was published in March 2018 in the anthology Space Pioneers which he co-edited with Tony Daniel. The same year, he sells the first volume of his series Sun Eater, ” Empire of Silence ” at Dawn Books. He was then twenty-two years old.

Cruising speed

Ruocchio wins the 2019 Manly Wade Wellman Award for Empire of Silence. The same year released the second volume of the series Sun Eater “HowlingDark”, which obtained the following year the Dragon Award for Best Military Science Fiction or Fantasy Novel. He took the opportunity to self-publish a new ” The Lesser Devil “, Included in theuniverse of the Sun Eater. After several anthologies co-published at Bean Books where he participates, he finally delivers the third volume of his series and begins a collaboration at Marvel where he publishes a Thor adventure in November 2021.

He is currently married and lives in Raleigh, North Carolina.
