Taking action after the recall by Ferrero Australia of 8 different Kinder products on the shelves before Easter, Coles requested that fresh spinach sold in 60, 120 and 280 gram bags, as well as Kinder chocolates, be brought back to the markets due to salmonella fears.
Explaining that salmonella was detected as a result of the quality tests performed on the spinach sold in the Australian Capital Territory, Queensland and New South Wales states, Coles called on those who bought the products in question not to consume the products as of April 4.
It was announced that if customers return the products to any Coles store, their money will be fully refunded.
In the statement made by the Australian Food Standards Authority, it was requested that the Kinder products produced in the Belgian factory of the Italian company Ferrero be recalled nationwide, but it was stated that the recall did not include other Ferrero products produced in Italy.
CASE OF SALMONELLA RELATED TO KINDER PRODUCTS
Certain batches of Kinder chocolate products have been recalled in European countries such as Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, England, Sweden and Norway, as well as countries in Africa and the Arabian Peninsula.
Ferrero has recalled two batches of eggs with an expiration date of 11 July-7 October as a precaution, after 63 children in the UK were infected with salmonella in an outbreak linked to Kinder Surprise eggs.
The Ferrero group has recalled tons of Belgian-made Kinder chocolate products from shelves in France on suspicion that they may contain salmonella bacteria.
SALMONELLA SYMPTOMS
Symptoms of salmonella include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and fever.
While the symptoms disappear in a few days in most of the cases, it may be necessary to be hospitalized from time to time, especially in young people and those with weakened immune systems.
