18 kilos of amphetamine and nine kilos of hashish were part of the large record seizure at Böleäng in Umeå in March this year. A total of six men were charged on suspicion of extensive drug trafficking.
According to the police, the drugs come from one of the major drug networks in Sweden, either the Foxtrot or the Dalen network.
– It is our picture that this drug belongs to a well-established organization in Sweden. I don’t want to say exactly which one. It is sensitive and we continue to work on this, says intelligence chief Thomas Palmgren.
Salary from sports associations
Two of the suspected men have had income from Umeå municipality in recent years, they have both worked in the school for meal service. The men have also received wages from sports associations in Umeå.
In questioning, one of the main defendants, who is suspected of particularly serious drug offences, talks about his job at the school.
Policeman: What are your duties there?
– Cooking, washing dishes, serving. A little different, you change. You don’t do the same thing.
In March, the police searched the schools where the men worked with dogs. At one of the schools, over 100,000 kroner in cash was found in one of the men’s shoes which was in a changing room.
The police believe that the money comes from large-scale drug trafficking. In the interrogation, the police ask how the man was thinking when he kept so much money that comes from drugs at a school.
– No, but I didn’t have any drugs there, did I?
The police: No, but money from drugs, I think that there is a risk with sitting on such large amounts of money that someone is after that money. Do you understand what I mean?
– No one knows I have them there.
The municipality: Extremely unfortunate
Both men worked for Umeå municipality’s meal service, which is part of the part of the organization that Karin Isaksson is the manager of.
– It is extremely unfortunate and nothing that we want to happen, says Karin Isaksson, property manager and technical manager at Umeå municipality.
– We check those we employ according to the procedures that apply within the municipality.
This means, for example, that all employees within the municipality who work with children are checked by, among other things, requesting an extract from the police’s crime register.
