A session titled “Israel-Palestine: A plan for 2 states and a plan for peace” was held at the 7th Paris Peace Forum held in Paris, the capital of France. Speaking at the session, Olmert argued that the two-state solution he proposed in 2008 could have completely changed the Middle East and the lives of millions of people in this region.
“WAR WAS INEVITABLE”
Olmert said, “The events of October 7 are unforgettable and inexcusable, and given the circumstances that triggered it, war was inevitable. I said this long ago, I think the war should have stopped.” he said.
“WE DESTROYED GAZA”
“We destroyed Hamas’ military capacity.” Olmert stated that innocent Palestinian civilians also died in Gaza.
Olmert said, “We destroyed Gaza. The impact on the lives of 2 million citizens of Gaza, who are not terrorists and do not contribute to terrorism, is terrible.” he said.
“WE SHOULD WITHDRAW FROM GAZA”
Olmert stated that Israel should stop its attacks on Gaza, rescue the prisoners and release Palestinian prisoners in prisons in Israel, and continued:
“We must withdraw from Gaza and allow another force to enter Gaza, the task of this force should be to prevent attacks by Hezbollah or other terrorist groups against the State of Israel. Of course, the Palestinians must form a new administration led by commissioners. This administration must be supported by the international community “And he will manage the situation in Gaza to rebuild Gaza with Israel’s help, allowing us to move towards a completely different approach from where we are today.”
