Former NHL defenseman Sami Vatanen will play for Keskisuomainen in JYP starting next season.

According to Keskisuomainen, Vatanen will move to Jyväskylä for next season and the contract will keep the defender with him for two seasons.
The 33-year-old Vatanen has been playing puck for the last four seasons in Switzerland in the ranks of Geneva-Servette. He has played a total of 473 games in the NHL regular season with an output of 47+153=200.
Vatanen left his breeding club JYP for the world in the spring of 2012 after winning the Finnish championship. In addition to the Olympic gold and world championship in the national team, he has won Olympic bronze in 2014.
While playing in Switzerland, Vatanen has celebrated both the Swiss championship and the hockey Champions League victory. Vatanen has played 13 matches in the early season with 2+4=6. He scored as many as 38 points last season.
