While Captain America will be the first Marvel film to hit the big screen in February 2025, the next offshoot of the huge blockbuster franchise will follow just two months later. Thunderbolts* is the title of the 36th film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). A new trailer has now been released.
Like the first trailer for Tunderbolts*, the latest glimpse of the action hit also boasts a long running time. For almost four minutes we can watch the anti-hero team led by Yelena Belova as they more or less successfully carry out a mission and get into trouble.
The Thunderbolts* trailer promises a dark action thriller full of puzzles and secrets

The first half of the trailer shows a chase in which none other than Bucky Barnes aka Winter Soldier turns out to be the unlikely savior of the Thunderbolts – at least until he blows up the chaotic troop’s car himself. Sooner or later he still has to work with them.
Thunderbolts include:
Afterwards, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) gathers the Thunderbolts in the former Avengers Tower. It quickly becomes clear that their assignment brings with it some unanswered questions and nothing is as it seems at first glance. What goal does the shady CIA director really pursue?
Thunderbolts* announces itself as a grim action thriller, but also has a lot of humor in the trailer. The many puzzles and secrets suggested above all arouse curiosity. It looks like the unlikely Anti-Avengers are falling into a trap and becoming part of a major conspiracy in the Marvel Universe.
For Thunderbolts* it’s worth taking a look at older MCU projects. Yelena Belova appeared in Hawkeye and Black Widow, from which we also know Taskmaster and Red Guardian. Meanwhile, Ghost comes from Ant-Man and the Wasp and US Agent took on Bucky Barnes in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
Marvel blockbuster: When does Thunderbolts* start in the cinema?
Thunderbolts* starts on April 30, 2025 in German cinemas and is already the second MCU film after Captain America: Brave New World that awaits us in cinemas next year. This will be followed by a third MCU entry on the big screen in July 2025, The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
