Football: AIK to Europe – after a new attendance record

– We broke a tough trend and have made a joint effort where all players have contributed. I am very proud of this group, says coach Mikkkjal Thomassen after a very strong autumn that resulted in third place in the Allsvenskan.

The previous record was held by Hammarby with 26,372 from the 2022 season. There were 4,000 spectators missing for AIK to reach the Nordic record held by FC Copenhagen of 28,860 from the 2022-23 season.

Direct red card in the first half

After Yannick Agnero stole the ball after careless AIK play and scored 1-1 for Halmstad, the match was decided a couple of minutes later. Gabriel Wallentin got into a duel with a legscissor on Lamine Fanne and received a straight red card.

AIK became too heavy and HBK could not resist. When Anton Saletros headed in 4-1 after Fanne’s slanted back-play after an hour, the match had long since been decided.

“Filled the contract anyway”

– We are very happy that we resolved the contract anyway, says Halmstad’s captain Andreas Johansson, record number of matches in the Allsvenskan, who does not want to talk about what the future looks like.

The match at the national arena in Solna started 20 minutes late after pyrotechnic smoke left a thick gray cover over the arena where the roof was open.

Captain Alexander Milosevic was thanked a lot after his last game in AIK, rumbled from the fans at Norra stå. There were 210 games in the black and yellow shirt during three stays.

– It is an end for a legend, only a legend gets such an end. Our careers have gone hand in hand even though we sometimes played in different clubs and I am proud to call him my friend, says a moved John Guidetti.
