The family from Degerfors was on their way to the Summer meet in Västerås on July 4, 2024, when an overtaking van collided head-on with their vintage car. The father of the family died at the scene of the accident. Now the mother has also died, due to the serious injuries she received in the accident.
The couple’s 10-year-old son was seriously injured but survived the accident. He lives with a relative today.
The driver was drunk
The driver of the van, a man from Poland, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. He was recently sentenced in the Court of Appeal to three and a half years in prison and lifelong deportation. He must also pay SEK 150,000 in damages to the surviving boy.
