President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan completed his contacts in Kyrgyzstan. 19 agreements were signed between Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan. One agreement in particular stood out. This agreement concerned the civil protection mechanism aimed at ensuring coordinated disaster and emergency response on security.
IS A JOINT ARMY BEING ESTABLISHED? ERDOĞAN ANSWERED
President Erdoğan answered journalists’ questions upon his return from Kyrgyzstan. Asked whether the agreement in question could be considered as a pioneering step in the establishment of a joint army by the Organization of Turkish States, Erdoğan’s response was as follows:
“AN IMPORTANT STEP”
“This would be a very advanced statement. There is no such image at the moment. There is currently no work or effort among the Turkish states to establish a joint army in the future. The Civilian Protection Mechanism Agreement is an important step to increase security cooperation in the region.
“THE MAIN PURPOSE IS TO INCREASE SOLIDARITY”
Coordinating disaster and emergency responses will strengthen deep cooperation between our states. The main purpose of this agreement is to increase the solidarity of the members of the Organization of Turkish States in disasters and emergencies. This solidarity will make us more prepared and resilient for disasters and post-disaster processes. As you know, we laid the intellectual foundations of this at the extraordinary summit we held in our country after the disaster of the century. This agreement will further strengthen the unity spirit of the Organization of Turkish States.
“IT MAY HELP ESTABLISH DEEPER TIES IN THE SECURITY FIELD”
We learned once again from experience how important solidarity with our friends and brothers is in disasters and emergencies. Issues such as training, exercises and technology transfer between our countries are on our agenda and there are steps taken in this regard. All these developments can help establish deeper ties in the field of security. These processes take time and are affected by various political, economic and social dynamics. In our age, the importance of alliances, unions and international organizations has increased severalfold. “Such solidarity-based steps strengthen the power of organizations.”
COMMON ALPHABET IS COMING
In his speech at the 11th Summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States, Erdoğan said the following about the common alphabet to be used by the members of the organization:
“The agreement on the Common Turkish Alphabet project at the Joint Alphabet Commission Meeting held by the Turkish Academy and the Turkish Language Association in Baku last September constituted a historical step. Our common alphabet is the sign of our common destiny, our common future and our will to step into the future together. This “By increasing our efforts in this field, we will hopefully eliminate all obstacles between us and sign the historical embrace of the Turkish world.”
ALPHABET WITH 34 LETTERS
There are 5 more letters (Ä – Ň – Ŭ -Q – X) in the common alphabet that are not used in Turkey.
