Otto Virtanen the job ended in the quarterfinals of the Helsinki ATP challenger tournament in the Tali tennis center. Kazakhstan Denis Yevseyev beat Virtanen 6–4, 7–5.
Virtanes had a weaker day today and the balls ran out of the field or into the net. In the second set, he lost a break point and took it back once, but lost his serve again at 5–5.
Yevseyev is ranked 218th in the world. Virtanen also lost to him last year in Tali, then in the first round.
Despite the loss, Virtanen is rising to the top 90 in the world list to be published on Monday and to the best Finn after taking a break from competition Emil Ruusuvuoren.
The Finns’ matches in Tali ended when Patrik Niklas-Salminen and Italian Marco Bortolotti lost in the semi-finals of the doubles to the Swedish-Dutch pair Filip Bergevi / Mick Veldheer 3–6, 6–7.
