Daniel Sedin is worried about Modo’s poor form and that they could go out

Modo has five straight losses and is last in the table.
Club icon Daniel Sedin admits he’s getting nervous.
– Of course you are worried, he tells Expressen.

During the 1999 NHL draft, both were selected Daniel Sedin44, and his twin brother Henrik by the Vancouver Canucks, after the team made a big move and landed both the second and third overall picks. Although it was a complicated business to row in port, it turned out to be one of the smartest trades ever, because the “Sedins” are the club’s two best scorers ever.

Daniel Sedin’s concerns

In fact, both “Danne” and “Henke” still live in the city and work for the club even after their last season which was 2017/2018. They currently function as extra resources for the head coach Rick Tocchet and they help in training, talk to players, accompany them on trips and so on.

They have a particularly good grasp of Vancouver’s Swedes Elias Pettersson, Jonathan Lekerimäkki, Erik Brannstrom, Elias Pettersson (yes, there are two) and Nils Åman. In addition, the team’s general manager is Swedish, Patrick Allvin.

The Sedin brothers’ connection to their home country of Sweden and hometown of Örnsköldsvik is still strong, even though it was a full 17 seasons in the NHL. Daniel Sedin says in an interview with Expressen that he still has an eye on how things are going for Modo, who he and Henrik played for in 1996-2000 and during the NHL lockout in 2004/2005. Right now it looks dark for Modo, who is last in the SHL table after 16 rounds played. Daniel admits that he is getting nervous about the wretched table position.

– Of course you are worried. There are a lot of points to make up. I hope that you can gather your strength now during the break and get started right away in a good way during the restart next week, he says.

The modo icon saws the team

After five straight losses, Modo is last in the league, with ten points up to Malmö Redhawks, who are not in the play out position. When Sedin is asked to answer why things are going so badly for Ö-vik’s pride this year, he finds it difficult to pinpoint exactly the biggest weaknesses. But he says that the players have too little self-confidence at the moment and thus are unable to hold on to leads and control their game.

– Hard to say when you sit this far away and only watched a match here and there on TV. You have been in many matches, it feels like. But then you lose leads, which creates uncertainty within the team, he says.

Now that Modo is on the hunt for players during the national team break, you might think that Daniel and Henrik Sedin could help with tips and advice on players in the AHL and other leagues in North America. So far it has not been the case, but it could be in the future.

– We are in contact with “Hinken” (Henrik GradinModo’s sports director), but right now there is nothing going on from here, says Sedin.

It will be exciting to see how it goes both for Modo and for Vancouver this year, the clubs of the “Sedins”. How will Modo do to get up from the jumbo spot? Feel free to write a comment, share and like-mark the article.
