Alarm about a fight at school: “Unclear”

Several children were in the same room at the same time as a little girl of preschool age is suspected of having been subjected to a serious rape at her preschool in Flen in October.

The rape must have taken place during bedtime, Jaana Moberg, head of the children’s and education administration in Flen, tells P4 Sörmland.

A 24-year-old man who had been employed as a nanny for several years has been charged and admitted to the crime.

Prosecutor Fredrik Beijar believes that the crime should be assessed as serious as it involves a small child.

– And because the suspect showed particular recklessness when he took advantage of his position as preschool staff, says the prosecutor in a press release.

In connection with the crime becoming known, the man was suspected of another ten crimes. Of these, one more case is currently being investigated.

According to the prosecutor, the suspicions in the other cases were not concrete enough to proceed with.

A 65-year-old man suspected of drowning his friend, a man in his 70s, in international waters off Gothenburg’s northern archipelago is to be extradited to Germany, reports Göteborgs-Posten.

On August 1, the two German citizens were on their way home from a sailing competition in Norway. A fight allegedly occurred and both ended up in the water. The friend was later pronounced dead in hospital.

A couple of days later, the man was arrested in Sweden, suspected of murder.

The 34-year-old man who attacked three girls with a knife in a residential area in Karlskrona in May is sentenced to forensic psychiatric care for serious assault and is to be deported from Sweden, BLT reports.

The district court acquits the man of two attempted murders of the girls, who were between the ages of 12 and 16. He may not return to Sweden for ten years.

The man has previously been assessed as seriously mentally disturbed at the time of the incident, according to BLT.

Children and young people under 16 in Australia may be banned from social media in a few years. The government has put its foot down in 16, not 14 years, in a bill, ABC reports.

– Social media is harming our children and I say now it will be enough, says Prime Minister Anthony Albanese whose Labor party has now decided on 16 years.

The proposal does not exempt children and who already have popular apps or have parental permission. Parliament supports the government.

Large forest fires are spreading in California, north of Los Angeles, AP reports.

The fires are described as moving out of control as a result of the weather conditions. It is dry and strong winds blow.

Hundreds of people have had to evacuate their homes, and according to the local news channel ABC7 it is estimated that around 50 houses have burned down.

Several people have been injured and taken to hospital, writes the channel with reference to the Ventura County Fire Department.

At least 40 people were reportedly killed in eastern Lebanon by Israeli strikes on Wednesday, according to Lebanese health authorities.

On Wednesday, Israel also issued new warnings for an area in Beirut’s southern suburbs – at the same time as Hezbollah’s new leader gave a speech.

The Iran-backed militia’s new leader, Naim Qassem, spoke on Wednesday to mark 40 days since his predecessor, Hassan Nasrallah, was killed in an Israeli strike.

– We have tens of thousands of trained resistance fighters, said Qassem.

As the speech was broadcast, an Israeli military spokesman warned residents of three areas in the densely populated suburbs, just south of Beirut, of an imminent attack.

Loud explosions were then heard in large parts of the capital, witnesses told AFP.

Earlier in the day, Israeli attacks were also reported from the Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon, as well as from the city of Nabatieh in the southern parts. In Baalbek, an AFP correspondent states that intense attacks were heard inside and around the city during the day.

Lebanese health authorities said on Wednesday evening that at least 40 people had died and over 50 were injured in the Israeli attacks in the area.
