There are more women than men who continue their studies at university. And the gap between the sexes is growing, new statistics from Statistics Norway show.
Looking at the whole country, it was 66 percent of women and 48 percent of men who started further studies within five years of taking their high school diploma in 2019.
If you compare it with the cohort that took their upper secondary school diploma in 2014, the percentage of those studying has increased among both women and men, but more so among women. Among those who graduated from high school in 2014, 61 percent of women continued their studies within five years and 47 percent of men.
The biggest difference between the sexes is found in Torsby, where the percentage of women who continue their studies five years after high school is 80 percent compared to 18 percent of men.
