Requirements for fire alarms in new homes
According to the Swedish Agency for Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, there has been a requirement that smoke detectors be present in all newly built homes since 1999. Homes built before that are strongly advised to also have smoke detectors.
Fire alarms warn in the event of a fire and must be placed in good places in the home. All fire alarms sold in the EU must have a CE mark and a standard called SS-EN 14604.

You must do that in the event of a fire
When a fire starts, there is a certain order you should do things, so that everything goes as calmly and safely as possible.
You should primarily save yourself and others in your vicinity from danger, as well as warn those who are threatened by the fire. When you have done that, you must call SOS Alarm 112.
If it can happen without risk to yourself, you can also try to put out the fire.
You should never install a smoke alarm here
There is one place in the home where you should never put your smoke alarm, this place is actually in the kitchen. Despite the fact that most fires in homes start in the kitchen, you should not have your smoke alarm directly connected to the kitchen.
Fire alarms must be placed on the ceiling, at least 50 cm from a wall and other objects. But also in connection with the bedroom, so that you are woken by the alarm even if you are sleeping.
If you place your smoke alarm in the kitchen or bathroom, you risk getting false alarms, write The Fire Protection Association on its website.
