Karin, 86, got rid of a gold bracelet worth 45,000 – the police dropped the report

Karin Andersson from Sollefteå is 86 years old and works at home. She says that she had her gold bracelet lying rolled up on a shelf at home.

– I didn’t have it in a box or anything, but I had put photographs in front of it, she says.

She cannot say exactly when it disappeared.

– But at the beginning of 2024 I discovered that it was gone.

How much was it worth?

– SEK 45,000. And then there are few memories around it. So I hope I get it back.

Karin Andersson reported to the police, but the investigation was dropped due to lack of evidence. She is unsure whether the woman who has been charged has been at her home, but she still wanted to be there and listen in the courtroom.

Been going on for four years

During the weekend, SVT Västernorrland was able to tell about the suspicions against the home care employee regarding gross theft, gross embezzlement and gross money laundering. The gold thefts she was charged with must have gone on over a four-year period until everything was revealed earlier this year.

In total, it is about suspected gold thefts for just over SEK 570,000.

When the prosecutor drew up his statement in the courtroom, he said that the crime was “especially reckless as it was committed against someone in a dependent position”.

Denies

The accused woman denied everything and said that she does not know how the jewelry ended up in her bag. She says she thinks someone tried to set her up.

She has also claimed that most of the seized gold is her own.

Something prosecutor Dennis Jernberg is skeptical about.

– Parts of the seized goods have been identified by plaintiffs. Some objects also have engravings and have been photographed in the past, he says.

A man is also suspected of fraud in the case and he was also heard in the courtroom. He also denies and says that he had no knowledge whatsoever about the whole thing.
