Viktor Gyökeres is hot and is rumored to be in all the top clubs in the world.
Right now there’s really only one destination for him, I’ll tell you why.

Last summer, the Swedish hit man was rumored Viktor Gyökeres26, to all possible big clubs in Europe. He had scored 43 goals in his debut season in Portugal, winning the league and emerging as one of the continent’s most skilled strikers. But a knee injury forced him to have meniscus surgery this summer, and then suddenly all rumors of a move disappeared temporarily.
Viktor Gyökeres is TOO good
Now you can’t close your eyes anymore. Viktor Gyökeres is simply TOO good! There is no chance that Sporting will be able to keep him after this season, maybe not even after the January window closes. He has already scored 23 goals this year, plus four in the Nations League for Sweden. He will be moving soon. He needs a bigger stage. The only question is where will he go?

The given answer right now is Manchester United. Rumors of such a move have intensified given that his coach and mentor Reuben Amorim just signed for the sleeping giant. Most people naturally believe that the Portuguese wants to take his diamond to the British Isles. It is perhaps the most logical choice right now. But at the same time, the Swede himself doesn’t seem too eager to jump on that project, the club’s future is simply too uncertain despite Amorim’s arrival. Portuguese Record writes that he has “other preferences”.
The Stockholmer has played in England before. He belonged to Brighton, but did not get playing time there. Was loaned out to both Swansea and Coventry – at the latter club he finally got his act together. It could be that he feels that he has “unfinished business” in Great Britain and that the Premier League therefore attracts. There has been some talk about Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City (as a replacement for Erling Haaland if the Norwegian goes to Real Madrid this summer). Honestly, I don’t think it’s a good idea for him.
Should ignore England
Arsenal under Mikel Arteta plays too “possession-oriented” and wants a lot of possession. Gyökeres thrives better in a team that plays straighter and switches a lot. He is a powerful, fast and strong player who needs to go deep in order to come into his own. In City, he would of course score a lot of goals if he took over the place in the starting eleven after Haaland, but there are question marks for how long Pep Guardiola stays in the club. And in Chelsea, which admittedly worked better under Enzo Marescait still feels very unsafe and it is full of offensive players in all positions.
Gyökeres has also been rumored some to PSG and Milan, but there I put my foot down immediately. He is not going to France. It is also not the right step for him. And Milan? The only connection there is Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The team is too bad right now. In addition, they would hardly be able to afford the Swede, who is said to cost a little more than SEK 700 million this summer. His price tag right now is, according to Ruben Amorim, 1.4 billion, which makes it difficult for any club to pick him up in January.

Best move for Gyökeres
I think the best step for Viktor right now is Barcelona. The Spanish giants are on the rise again after some darker years when they ended up in the shadow of Real Madrid. With a new coach Hansie Flick the team has started to play faster and straighter, not as much possession and tiki-taka as they were known for before. It has paid off, they lead the league convincingly after only twelve rounds. Their game is more suited to a player like Viktor Gyökeres and he can step straight into the team.
In addition, they have a 36-year-old Polish super striker in Robert Lewandowski which must be replaced shortly. The club has, according to Spanish media, already gone out to check what is on the market and they have their eyes on Gyökeres, as everyone else has. The only problem is that they may find it difficult to pay the money required – but otherwise they tick all the boxes. Viktor Gyökeres should go to Barcelona this summer.
