Donald Trump wins the election and becomes the 47th president

Donald Trump returns to the White House. Thanks to his victory in Wisconsin, making him reach the threshold of 270 voters, the Republican candidate is guaranteed to win the American presidential election this Wednesday, November 6. The former head of state (2017-2021), who will be again next January, has already claimed a “political victory never seen in our country”, without waiting for the final count, after his victory in several swing statesincluding crucial Pennsylvania.

Fox News also said this earlier in the morning. The leader of the Republicans in the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, has already congratulated “president-elect” Donald Trump, the latter having promised, in front of his supporters gathered in Florida, to “heal” America.

Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania

The count is still underway in many polling stations, but a defeat for her Democratic rival Kamala Harris is now assured, since several decisive states have fallen into the hands of the 78-year-old tribune. The latter was given the victory in Georgia, North Carolina and especially in Pennsylvania, against the Democratic vice-president, according to American media projections. A question still remains: will Donald Trump, as he already assures, win the majority of votes nationally, something a Republican candidate has never done in twenty years?

The two candidates won, according to the media, a series of states that were promised to them: Texas, Kentucky, West Virginia, Florida, Missouri, Oklahoma, Mississippi or Louisiana for the former Republican president; New York, Illinois, California, Massachusetts, Colorado and the capital Washington for the Democratic vice president. Kamala Harris, hoped to become the first woman elected president, facing an opponent convicted of criminal charges, targeted by multiple prosecutions, and who never admitted his defeat in 2020.

The Republicans have also regained control of the US Senate, until now in the hands of the Democrats, by winning a majority of at least 51 seats out of 100, according to projections by the Fox News and NBC media. Its control, as well as that of the House of Representatives, still unknown, is a major issue in the legislative elections organized in parallel with the presidential election.
