Infrastructure and Housing Minister Andreas Carlson held a press conference on Wednesday morning together with the Swedish Transport Administration’s Director General Roberto Maiorana.
The Swedish Transport Administration reported the government assignment they received in May after the extraordinary incident in January on the E22 in Skåne when thousands of motorists were stuck in the snowstorm.
– Evaluations of that situation showed a number of shortcomings in the coordination between the actors and a lack of knowledge about who would do what, says Andreas Carlson.
In the Swedish Transport Administration’s new action plan, the operational capability must be improved, cooperation with other authorities must be improved, and so must communication.
– We have also developed a new 24/7 function with a traffic management that is running maintenance activities around the clock, 365 days a year, says Roberto Maiorana, Director General of the Swedish Transport Administration.
An in-depth collaboration with SMHI is also being initiated as well as a common communication system through a Rakelkanal.
