Good news awaits many recipients of the Family Allowance Fund.
This is good news that many have forgotten. A transfer from the Family Allowance Fund has just arrived in the bank accounts of six million French people and the amount received by beneficiaries is higher than usual. An “unusual” date since, usually, it is on 1er April of each year that social benefits are increased. All, except one, which was paid this Tuesday, November 5.
This increase had been planned for a long time. However, between the moment of the announcement and its implementation, a delay was necessary. To the point that the revaluation of this social benefit had come out of the heads of some recipients and constituted a “good surprise”.
At the end of September, an increase in the amount of personalized housing assistance (APL) was announced, with application from 1er october. Problem: the beneficiaries were surprised to see no change in the amount received on October 5. But it wasn’t an oversight on the part of the fund.
In reality, the Caf pays the allowance in arrears, that is to say after the rent has been paid. APLs therefore play a role of partial reimbursement of the previous rent. The organization indicates to Linternaute.com that “the rights for the month of October are paid on November 5, taking into account the revaluation.”
Thus, it is the amount received at the beginning of November by beneficiaries which is increased, on average, by 3.26%. This corresponds to the increase in the rent reference index, i.e. the maximum increase that can be applied to the rent. For example, for a person previously receiving 210 euros of APL each month, this amount increases, on average, to 216.85 euros.
On average, because the calculation of APL takes into account many personal elements, linked to housing, the amount of rent and, above all, income. The allowance is not fixed, the variation – upwards or downwards – therefore depends on your personal situation.
This increase does not only concern APLs. The three million French people who benefit from other housing assistance – less known to the general public – such as the Family Housing Allowance (ALF) and the Social Housing Allowance (ALS) also see their Caf payment increase. A little help that’s always good to take for your finances.
