Stina Nilsson has switched from biathlon to long-distance running.
Cohabitant Emil Nykvist is not entirely happy about that.
– I absolutely think it’s sad that she put the gun on the shelf, he says to Sportbladet.
Already in April passed Stina Nilsson31, out and announced that she would be shifting her focus from biathlon to long-distance running, after four years as a biathlete. She broke through as a cross-country skier in March 2012. But not everyone is completely happy with her decision.
Emil doesn’t like Stina’s booty
Stina Nilsson’s boyfriend Emil Nykvist27, who is also an active biathlete, does not like that his love has abandoned the sport.
– I absolutely think it’s sad that she put the gun on the shelf, he says to Sportbladet, but at the same time admits that she is making a good choice for herself:
– I see that she thinks this is so much fun and that she is passionate about it every day. I don’t think I’ve seen her do a workout this summer that she didn’t think was fun. There is such a glow in her eyes when she trains that it’s unbelievable, her ambitions are so terribly high. It is very inspiring.

Even her former trainer Jean-Marc Chabloz think that the switch to long-distance running can benefit her. Stina Nilsson has received a lot of criticism for the lack of success since the switch from cross-country skiing to biathlon. Therefore, he believes that Nilsson will be better off now that she invests wholeheartedly in long-distance running.
– She’s had too much crap in general so I’m very happy for her now. I was very happy when she won, I have been in contact with her and I see how she shines. It’s kind of like when she started biathlon. There is no stopping and it is great fun for her. She has said several times that she is where she wants to be, he says.
Nykvist also tests long runs
Emil Nykvist has previously said that he is also open to trying long races, but he sees it as a hobby and not a permanent transition. He aims to do maybe three races this spring. He will compete for his friend Gabriel Strides newly started team Team GS8 in Ski Classics – something he did not tell the national team coach at first John Luke. Although it became a big deal in the media that Nykvist “went behind the back” of the biathlon coach, this is not the case.
– He just laughed and said that he thinks it’s better that I go long-distance running instead of riding a scooter, carpentry or doing some other shit, says Emil Nykvist.

In an interview with the Norwegian site Langrenn.com, he admits that it was Stina who inspired him to try long runs. Without her, he would probably never get into it.
– It has definitely affected me. I never would have done it if she hadn’t switched to long distance running. But I am a biathlete and I will invest in biathlon until the World Cup season is over. This is just a fun thing, he has said.
It will be exciting to see your investment in the future. Good luck to both Stina and Emil. Hope you can make it to the season opener. Keep working hard!
