With over a billion dollars at the global box office, Deadpool & Wolverine is one of the most successful films of the year. It’s almost astonishing that news about another part with the cheeky Marvel anti-hero is still a long time coming.
Now the main actor, Ryan Reynolds, has made a public statement expressed about a new film projectwhich is said to come from the Deadpool & Wolverine team. Marvel fans shouldn’t get excited too soon.
Ryan Reynolds is working on a film for himself and Hugh Jackman without a Marvel connection
According to Variety, the star revealed current plans as a guest on an episode of the Variety Awards Circuit podcast:
I spend the year writing. I’m writing a film for myself, Hugh [Jackman] and Shawn [Levy], which is not from Marvel.
With this, Reynolds should give his fans a laughing and crying eye. This pushes Deadpool & Wolverine 2 even further away, but in the best case scenario we still get an extremely entertaining new project with Reynolds and Jackman in front of the camera. It would at least be very surprising if the Deadpool actor is planning a serious drama with the Wolverine star and director Levy.
So far, the new film project for Reynolds and Jackman is in progress still in its infancy. After the actor has finished writing the script, a studio must first officially put the film into development. Given the box office value of those involved, Reynolds & Co. shouldn’t have a very difficult time.
