New horror version wants to make everything worse with slasher

Disney’s 1940 animated classic Pinocchio is pretty tough fare if you’re a sensitive person. Abducted children, bizarre body horror with donkey transformations and not forgetting the disappearance into the throat of a whale. The creators of the series thought so too Twisted Childhood Universe and have taken the Italian fairy tale about the doll boy and created a new horror version called Pinocchio Unstrung.

Pinocchio as a horror film: This is how scary the wooden puppet is as a slasher

Under the title Pinocchio Unstrung, the dark children’s story directed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield becomes a full-blown horror. The first proof of this is provided by: scary animatronic doll about the perfidious Pinocchio, which can already scare you. What will happen once she is let off the puppet leash? You can certainly do a lot of damage with a nasal lance.

In addition to Richard Brake (the Night King from Game of Thrones) as the puppeteer Gepetto, Variety has now confirmed an absolute Horror legend in the cast: Robert Englund, who is notorious as a nightmare slasher, appears in the film and voices the talking cricket.

Pinocchio Unstrung is about a boy named James (Cameron Bell) who meets his grandfather’s seemingly magical wooden puppet Gepetto. But then James makes a big mistake: he shows the naive wooden doll the cruel world that Pinocchio wants to quickly rid of all evil things.

By the way, the concept of a horror Pinocchio is not new: Back in 1996, there was a very similar film about the character, Pinocchio – Doll of Death, which has long been in the public domain and can therefore be used by anyone without a license.

The Twisted Childhood Universe turns your childhood into a horror show

Pinocchio Unstrung will be next year fifth film from the film cosmos of perverted children’s stories. The first was Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, which was created after the story about the lovely Disney bear Winnie the Pooh entered the public domain in 2022. The sequel, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, came out this year.
