Sweden’s most dangerous roads this winter

Swedens most dangerous roads this winter

The compilation includes the 30 most dangerous roads, based on statistics from the Swedish Transport Agency.

– It is starting to be time to prepare for winter road conditions and the challenges it brings, warns Victor Öberg, insurance expert at Dina Försäkringar.

Most accident prone road

Sweden’s most accident-prone road is the E4 through Stockholm County, with 574 reported accidents over the past five years.

Not only is it the most accident-prone, but it is also the victim of the highest number of deaths, along with E20 in Skåne, with a total of eight deaths.

The gloomy statistics continue in Stockholm, where both E18 and E20 are among the worst affected with 322 and 283 accidents respectively.

Ordinary cars that do not need winter tires

You must do that on the car – no later than 1 December

Even beyond the metropolitan regions

However, it is not only within the metropolitan regions that you find accident-prone roads.

In Västernorrland County, 300 accidents have taken place on E4 in recent years. Over 200 accidents have been reported on the E22 in Kalmar county.

Although the fourth quarter is not the most accident-prone period of the year, it is estimated that over 400 people are expected to be seriously injured in the coming months, according to Dina Försäkringar.

About 60 people are at risk of dying.

– This underlines the importance of being prepared for winter traffic, points out Victor Öberg, insurance expert at Dina Försäkringar.

DON’T MISS IT

Adversity continues for important industries

Soon all driving licenses in Sweden can be replaced

It is important to be prepared

– We see slightly fewer accidents during the winter because fewer people go out when the road conditions are at their worst, and those who drive often adjust their driving. But the accidents that do occur are often more serious due to the more difficult road conditions.

Victor Öberg continues:

– To reduce the risk of having an accident, it is important to prepare carefully. Change to winter tires in good time, plan your driving and keep an extra eye on weather forecasts.

Make sure your car is in good working order, including windshield wipers and washer fluid. Small efforts can make a big difference to your safety on the roads during the winter.
