Police: $1,200 worth of butter stolen in Brantford

Brantford Police hope the public can identify two suspects involved in the theft of $1,200 worth of butter.

Two people were seen stealing the butter from a grocery store at Lynden Road and Wayne Gretzky Parkway just before 8:30 pm on Tuesday, October 29.

The suspects were both wearing all black clothing, black baseball caps, and were seen leaving in a white van.

Butter seems to be a hot commodity as Guelph Police have investigated seven large-scale thefts of butter in the last 10 months. Most recently, two males stole cases of butter valued at $936 and $958 in separate incidents at two different grocery stores in the north end of Guelph, fleeing out a receiving door and an emergency exit.

Two sided intoxication charges

A 45-year-old male and 42-year-old female from Amaranth, Ontario face several charges after being accused of misbehaving at a local public area.

Six Nations Police were called Saturday, September 21 about 11:10 pm to a public community area after receiving complaints of intoxicated persons operating a motor vehicle.

Upon arrival, officers saw the female accused being disruptive, and spoke to witnesses who said both individuals had been driving the vehicle on separate occasions prior to police arrival.

In a release issued last week, police said the accused have been charged with impaired driving and two counts of failing to provide necessaries of life – child or spouse. The man has also been charged with dangerous driving and mischief under $5,000, while the woman faces additional charges of causing a disturbance and obstructing a peace officer.

Inspection takes 11 vehicles off the road

Brant OPP along with several partner agencies conducted a one-day commercial motor vehicle blitz in the County of Brant on October 29.

Over the course of the day 48 Level 1 inspections were conducted resulting in 11 vehicles being taken out of service. Police also issued 34 provincial offense notices and 18 warnings.
