New Lord of the Rings adventure hits theaters next month

The theatrical release of The Lord of the Rings: The Battle of the Rohirrim is just over a month away. In the first trailer, the animated film showed a return to the scene of one of the most impressive Middle-earth battles. It was also recently revealed that the latest Tolkien adventure picks up a tradition from the Peter Jackson trilogy: the Graduation song.

Everything we know about The Battle of the Rohirrim suggests that the new Lord of the Rings film wants to follow closely on the first cinema trilogy. This is not only demonstrated by returning participants such as Éowyn star Miranda Otto, screenwriter Philippa Boyens, Peter Jackson (this time as executive producer) and effects master Richard Taylor. Also the film location Rohan, where the The Rohirrim people defended themselves against an invasion 183 years before Frodo’s time must, promises nostalgia with Helm’s gorge memory moments.

First glimpses received thunderous applause and one hears again and again that a Lord of the Rings story in anime form is new, but Middle-earth’s return to the cinema feels “100 percent like the original trilogy”. The revival of another cinema tradition apparently also wants to contribute to this: a specially composed Lord of the Rings song for the end credits. A first sample of it has already been published:

After we were already sure of seeing the Lord of the Rings character Saruman again in The Battle of the Rohirrim, the new animated film also adheres to the successful recipe of the previous films musically. Peter Jackson rounded off his two Middle-earth trilogies with ballads from emerging or established singer-songwriters. This honor falls in the new adventure of the 24-year-old English singer and guitarist Paris Paloma to, which has just released its debut album (Cacophony) in August 2024 after hit singles like Labor.

We remember the previous singers who lent their voices to Middle-earth under Peter Jackson:

This means that the Lord of the Rings world returns to a singing woman in The Battle of the Rohirrim, after the Hobbit trilogy relied on the voices of men.

When does The Lord of the Rings: The Battle of the Rohirrim start in cinemas?

The cinematic sequel for Lord of the Rings fans can be seen on the big screen shortly before Christmas (also in the tried and tested Middle-earth tradition): The Battle of the Rohirrim starts on December 12, 2024 in Germany.
