If you can’t get enough of the Nazis getting punched in the fascist noses in the Tarantino film Inglourious Basterds, you can try the new one Number 1 in the Netflix film charts definitely don’t miss it. Because in the Finnish surprise hit Sisu – Revenge is sweet by director Jalmari Helander, a Rambo-like one-man army embarks on a historic campaign of revenge.
However, for the faint-hearted, it might be better to skip this title rather than go with it FSK-18-Classification is not something to be trifled with in this case.
Sisu at number 1 on Netflix: Tarantino and Stallone would be proud
In Sisu it is the year 1944: The Wehrmacht has suffered defeat in the north at the hands of the Red Army and is in retreat. SS-Obersturmführer Bruno (Aksel Hennie) and his company meet the lonesome man Gold prospector Aatami Korpi (Jorma Tomilla), who after years of searching has finally found a vein. An easy victim for the German thieves? Far from it.
Critics and audiences seem to agree on Sisu, as the film shines on Rotten Tomatoes with a Tomatometer of 84 percent and a Popcorn Meter of 88 percent. Our Moviepilot community, on the other hand, is having a bit of a hard time with only 6.7 points for the World War II action film from Finland. But maybe something else will happen when the hardened gold prospector Korpi now makes the rounds on Netflix and wins over new fans.
Sisu 2: The sequel to the World War II thriller is already in the works
It remains to be seen whether Sisu will become the Finnish John Wick, who delivers one action hit after another. A sequel is at least certain for fans and, according to EPN, it has been in the works since the summer: Sisu 2.
However, it is not yet known when part 2 can be expected and whether the sequel will also end up on Netflix.
