Toronto lost to Minnesota, but for William Nylander it was still a decent night.
The Swede scored the ninth goal of the season and is tied for second in the NHL’s shooting league.
It was the second straight loss for the Toronto Maple Leafs, but the Canadian team is still in third place in the Atlantic division. They lost to the Minnesota Wild 1-2 and the team’s goal was scored by the star William Nylander28.
Fits well in the shooting league
The Swede’s goal (the 1-1 goal) came on the power play with less than a minute left in the first period. He received a pass laterally and fired a shot as quick as lightning – outsmarting his compatriot Philip Gustavsson in the Minnesota goal. But the opponents scored a winning goal and took the extra point. Toronto has now lost two straight.
– I think our power play clicked there, so it felt good, said William Nylander about his goal after the game.
For Nylander, the goal was still significant. He is now tied for second in the entire NHL shooting league. He has scored nine goals so far. However, Nylander shares the place with Kyle Connor (Winnipeg), Artemi Panarin (New York Rangers) and Leon Draisaitl (Edmonton). Leads the shooting league does Sam Reinhart (Florida), Nikita Kucherov (Tampa Bay), Nico Hischier (New Jersey) and Cole Caufield (Montreal). All have scored ten goals so far.
