An accident happened this afternoon at the intersection of Zuidstedeweg with AC Verhoefweg in Nieuwegein. That happened around 2 p.m. Two cars collided. A vehicle ended up on its head. The road is temporarily closed. It is not clear whether anyone was injured.
2.09 pm: Accident on A12 near Driebergen
Two cars collided on the A12 near Driebergen. One of the vehicles rolled over and landed on its side. One person was injured and taken to hospital. The highway towards Utrecht was completely closed for a while due to the deployment of emergency services and rubbish on the road.
10.51 am: Stabbing at Eykmanlaan in Utrecht
There was a stabbing on Eykmanlaan in Utrecht this morning. That happened around 10 a.m., a police spokesperson confirmed. According to a press photographer present, a person was taken to hospital by ambulance, but the police do not want to confirm this. The spokesperson does not wish to make any further statements in the context of the investigation.
7.46 am: Man injured in stabbing Utrecht
A man was injured in a stabbing on Domplein in Utrecht last night around 11:45 p.m. The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance.
9.15 pm: N210 near Lopik open again tomorrow afternoon
The MA Reinaldaweg (N210) near Lopik will be open to traffic again from tomorrow afternoon. According to the province, the work was completed earlier thanks to the favorable weather. The diversions for traffic between Lopik and Schoonhoven will therefore be cancelled.
5.45 pm: Death of woman after feeling unwell in TivoliVredenburg is not a crime
The woman who died in the night from Thursday to Friday after becoming unwell in TivoliVredenburg did not die as a result of a crime. The police report this. The victim attended a Halloween party at the music venue that night. Now that foul play has been ruled out, police have completed the investigation into the woman’s death.
4.33 pm: House fire extinguished after boiler short circuit
The fire brigade extinguished a fire in the crawl space of a house in Harmelen this afternoon. A spokesperson for the safety region said that the fire was caused by a short circuit in the boiler. This caused smoke to be released from the crawl space, prompting the residents to call the fire brigade. The fire brigade had to do some demolition work to reach the fire. The house was then ventilated and the residents were able to return.
2.05 pm: Accident in Leidsche Rijntunnel
Due to an accident in the Leidsche Rijntunnel on the A2, one of the two lanes has been closed. Rijkswaterstaat reports this. Motorists should expect a half-hour delay around 2 p.m. The delays are increasing because the Leidsche Rijntunnel is a diversion for road works.
9:20 am: 100 fines at traffic control
During a traffic stop on the A12 near Harmelen, the police issued about a hundred fines last week. The police wrote this on Instagram. Three hundred cars were checked, of which two motorists were fined for driving under the influence of alcohol. Two other drivers drove under the influence of drugs.
The Tax Authorities also participated in the traffic control. About sixty cars still had to pay a tax debt, which amounted to almost two million euros in debt.
