At least 211 people have died in the floods in Spain. In addition, dozens of people are still missing.

The Spanish Meteorological Institute AEMET has issued a heavy rain warning for the flood-affected region of Valencia.

AEMET issued a so-called “red warning”, according to which the amount of rain can be up to nine centimeters per hour.

Residents of the area are advised to stay in their homes at least through Sunday evening.

According to the reporter of the news agency AFP, the police used megaphones to warn the residents of the Valencia region to return to their homes.

Devastating floods have tossed vehicles, collapsed bridges and covered cities in mud. It is the deadliest natural disaster in Spain in decades.
