Sunday Times reveals how Charles III and William allegedly received

Last year alone, the king and prince received almost 50 million pounds (nearly 60 million euros) in rentals from their properties in England and Wales, reveals the Sunday Times. THE Duchies of Lancaster and Cornwall, the king and his son, own a total of 5,400 rental properties. Much of the rent is paid by charities and public services.

In detail, Prince William receives 37 million from the Ministry of Justice for the rental of a prison (Dartmoor) in the south of England. The king rents a warehouse in London from the British health insurance to park electric ambulances, the cost 11.4 million pounds.

None of these royal properties are subject to taxes, and the king pays taxes on their income on a voluntary basis.

Habitable properties with out-of-bounds energy performance

In his investigation, the Sunday Times reports that 15% of the habitable properties rented by the king and the prince have energy performances classified F or G, while since 2020, it has been prohibited to rent properties whose performance is below E.

Worse, certain contracts, particularly with mining companies, raise environmental questions. In a press release, the Duchy of Lancaster of King Charles III says it has made environmental improvements, that of Cornwall says it is acting responsibly and sustainably with the country’s industrial strategy.

For public accounts specialists, it would be time to revisit these privileges, especially since, in addition to these revenues, the British Chancellery will pay 132 million next year to be distributed to the entire royal family.
