A bakery in Helsingborg was hit by a wave of online hate and threats to stop shopping there – including from a local S politician.

The reason? They had baked three cakes to order from a customer who congratulated Malmö FF on the gold.

Supporters of the super single club Helsingborg and others who described themselves as Helsingborgs raged against the cake with MFF motifs, which the bakery posted on social media to give examples of good craftsmanship.

One of those who announced that she will boycott the bakery was Tonka Frodlund (S), member of the municipal council and former chairman of the Social Democrats in Helsingborg.

– It is shocking that a politician can write that you should boycott Thore’s bakery. I can’t buy that at all, says Bengt Carlsson, who owns Thores bakery, to Helsingborgs Dagblad.

Tonka Frodlund (S) tells the newspaper that she stands by what she wrote.

– I don’t intend to buy from someone who likes MFF when I’m from Helsingborg. That’s just the way it is. And if you don’t buy, it’s probably a boycott. You have to make decisions in life.

It doesn’t matter, she thinks, that the bakery made the cakes on behalf of a customer and not to show support for MFF themselves. The baker made an active choice by posting an MFF image, Frodlund believes.
