Lucas Schönefeld goes after the duel

Lucas Schönefeld was forced to leave “Idol” in the fourth Saturday finale after facing off against Olivia Oyemade Merenius. Merenius emerged victorious from the duel, for his performance of the song “Something’s gotta hold on me” by Etta James.

Schönefeld instead became one of the five idols who risked hanging loose, and had to leave the program after all the votes were counted.

– It feels both nice and very uncomfortable. It’s nice not to have to be compared to these talented people, but it’s also incredibly hard to leave them, he tells TV4 Nyheterna after the program.

Lucas Schönefeld sings Fallin’ by Alicia Keys

“Not completely satisfied”

Lucas Schönefeld performed Alicia Key’s “Fallin”, and received both rice and praise from the jury afterwards. Anders Bagge said that he maintained an “insanely high level”, while Peg Parnevik and Ash Pournouri thought that he had not managed to show who he is as an artist.

– I’m a little afraid that people don’t understand who you are as an artist. If I went to your concert, I don’t know what I would get, said Ash Pournouri after the performance.

Lucas Schönefeld says he didn’t feel completely satisfied with the number.

– I wasn’t completely satisfied, I wasn’t, but I’m satisfied that I did it and that I came here. But you can always do better, he says.

The criticism of the jury: I would be in a certain way

But Lucas Schönefeld says that he has not really agreed with the jury’s criticism that he has not succeeded in showing who he is as an artist.

– Actually, I chose the wrong song for the first theme which was “this is me”. I chose a punk song, which is not me, so I understand they were confused. It turned out that they wanted to see more punk, but I’ve tried to show my true side as an artist. It has been difficult to come up with because they already felt that I would be a certain way, he says.

He has no plans to stop music after the “Idol” journey ends.

– I see it as a starting point. You get exposure and show who you are as an artist. Then people may not know who I am as an artist yet, but I will show them that in the future, he says and tells us that he will continue to create music both for himself and for others.

– I will also enjoy the music. When you’re in a competition, it’s easy not to enjoy the moment. That’s why I think it’s kind of nice to leave, even if it’s a lot of work, he says.
