A round of six matches was played in the ice hockey SM league. Pelicans’ Czech players made fun of KooKoo.
In Pori, Ässät ended the three-game winning streak of second-placed Tappara in the hockey SM league.
Aces’ 22-year-old defender Kasper Puutio scored his team’s first two goals in the second period. Puutio, who has doubled his goal column for the season, has registered 4+7=11 efforts this season.
Tappara frantically searched for an equalizer in the final set and came in front of the goal when Petteri Puhakka vaccinated the citizens of Pori with superiority.
Lenny Hämeenaho and Radek Kucerik let the Aces out of their misery by hitting both of them into the net in the final minute. With a 4–1 win, Aces rose from sixth place to fourth in the standings. Tappara continues second.
Ässie’s local opponent Rauman Lukko, on the other hand, jumped three places up to fifth when it beat HPK bluntly 4–0. By Linus Nyman the overpowering hit in the opening set was the winning goal of the match.
Kärpät beat HIFK
Iiro Pakarinen the dizzying paint job continues. The HIFK striker celebrated of his choice as the league’s player of the month for October by hitting his 23rd complete game of the season against Kärppi, which ended in a 2–3 overtime loss.
Pakarinen took HIFK to a 1–0 lead in the opening set, when Kärppien’s goalkeeper Tomi Karhunen repelled Kristian Vesalainen I put his mattress in front of him, from which Pakarinen, who was parked in front of the goal, easily tapped the puck into the net.
– Bounced like a pinball straight into the shoulder. If you are going to stop HIFK’s big number one chain when Pakarinen is so strong in one-on-one battles, you should get quite a lot of hits, hockey expert Jesse Saarinen pondered in the Ice Hockey round.
Pakarinen is now on an eight-match scoring streak, during which he has finished 15 times.
Flies Patrik Virta brought the Oulu players to level in the second set, and Arttu Alasiuruan the shot put Kärpä in the lead when five minutes had been played in the third period.
Jesse Seppälä brought HIFK to 2-2 a couple of minutes later, and a solution was sought in overtime. The goal stick of flies Reid Gardiner struck the solution right at the beginning of extra time.
HIFK continues at the top of the series, Kärpät is ninth.
Close at the tail end
KooKoo’s difficulties continued when it lost 3–6 to the Pelicans in Lahti. KooKoo has lost seven of his last eight matches and is now on a four match losing streak.
Having played three games less than KooKoo, the Pelicans came within a point of the Kouvolaans’ position in the standings, in 13th place.
Lahti people’s checks were in high spirits. Striker Lubos Horky manufactured the powers 2+1, as well as the defender Libor Zabransky.
Last in the series, JYP kept KalPa tight in Jyväskylä. The people of Kuopio already led 3–1 at the beginning of the second period, but Alex Dostie and Samuel Johnson brought JYP level before the second break.
In the final set, Jonsson scored his second goal of the evening to make it 4-3 for JYP, who rose to 14th place at the bottom of the league, past HPK, tied with Pelicans
Series jumbo Jukurit fought for points in Espoo against Kiekko-Espoo. The people of Mikkeli took the lead against the Swedish pack by Kim Johansson with a man-of-the-match goal in the opening set, but Kiekko-Espoo equalized in the second set and decided the victory in the last minute Miro Keskitalon after succeeding in scoring.
Espoo continues in third place in the series.
