Artificial intelligence company OpenAI has added search engine features to its popular ChatGPT service.
The company said on its blog on Thursday that the service provides quick and up-to-date answers to the questions posed by the user, with links to relevant online sources. Sources used can be, for example, weather forecasts, stock exchange rates, sports results and current news.
To search for these sources, the ChatGPT user should have previously used an external search engine, OpenAI says.
The examples shown on OpenAI’s website looked similar to Google’s services, and with the new functions, OpenAI can challenge Google, which has dominated the search engine market for decades.
