Earlier this year things went wrong at the Pentecost fair in Zeist. A major fight prompted the operators to dismantle the attractions early. The fact that operators do this is unique, the National Association of Fairground Business Owners (BOVAK) previously told RTV Utrecht.
High fences, camera surveillance and detection gates were installed at the fair in Amsterdam’s Westerpark in March this year. The measures follow a series of restless evenings in October last year during another fair in the Osdorp district of Amsterdam. Confrontations took place there, property was destroyed, and fireworks were set off, including fireworks being thrown at officers. Officers were also attacked a few years ago at the fair in Utrecht’s Griftpark.
