“Focus on what you care about most with custom lists”

We’re excited to quickly turn this feature into Lists, as we’ve received great feedback that they help you keep track of your conversations. Thanks to the lists, you can now filter your chats with custom categories of your own choosing. Lists you can create for your family, workplace, neighborhood or many other things help you focus on the conversations you care about most when you need them. You can easily create and edit your lists by tapping the + icon in the filter bar at the top of your Chats tab, or you can edit a list by pressing and holding it. Just like your ‘favourites’, you can add both groups and one-on-one chats to a list, and any lists you create will appear in the filter bar. The Lists, which we have started to offer to users starting today, will be available to everyone in the coming weeks. “We look forward to expanding the functionality of Lists to help you focus on the people and conversations that matter most.”

WhatsApp had previously announced an infrastructure that would make it easier to add and manage contacts. Until now, to add people you had to type a phone number or scan a QR code from your mobile device. Moreover, we introduce a new option so that you can save a contact only on WhatsApp.

If you share your phone with others or want to separate your personal and business contacts while managing multiple WhatsApp accounts on your phone, the WhatsApp contacts feature will be ideal for you. Contacts you saved on WhatsApp will be restored in case you lose your phone or switch devices. These updates will also make it possible to manage and save contacts by their username.
