Claire Chazal is back at the helm of the Grand Échiquier on France 2, this Thursday, October 31…
This Thursday, October 31, Claire Chazal takes over the reins of Large Chessboardthe cultural meeting of France Télévisions, during a special evening “Cœur Outre-mer”, broadcast in prime time on France 2. A strong comeback for the 67-year-old journalist, who is becoming increasingly popular rare on the small screen since his departure from TF1 news in 2015.
But viewers can rest assured, Claire Chazal has not been idle over the last ten years. Between some notable appearances such as in the Netflix series “Fiasco” recently, event interviews and occasional hosting of her favorite show, the presenter continues to work. A hyperactivity that contrasts with her love life, about which she made some confidences recently.
The journalist, who has shared the lives of many personalities in the past, has not appeared on the arm of any man since 2015. It must be said that Claire Chazal’s private life has often hit the headlines. Her affair, described as “chaotic” but enriching, with Patrick Poivre d’Arvor in the 90s, from which their son François was born, had caused a lot of ink to flow. “He helped me, he taught me a lot of things. He was a model for me,” she recalled with emotion in Paris Match a few years ago.
The journalist also reacted when PPDA was accused of numerous rapes and sexual assaults by several women from 2021, notably assuring on France Inter that “the man they describe is not the one[‘elle avait] known”, even if she admitted that PPDA “liked to seduce, to convince, to have a strong relationship with women”. “I don’t want to respond on this subject”, she has been content to repeat in the press since. Targeted by new legal proceedings recentlythe former star presenter still fiercely denies the facts with which he is accused.
But then after PPDA and other men like Xavier Couture, Philippe Torreton, or even Arnaud Lemaire, what about the private life of Claire Chazal? The journalist now publicly accepts her celibacy, which she even associates with a form of “freedom”. “We can assume that we choose our life alone (…). It’s lonely, that’s true, but it’s also a freedom,” she proudly conceded in the show “1h avec” on RFM last May.
Claire Chazal has indeed spoken openly about her extinct love life, ensuring that life as a couple was no longer “an obsession” for her. “I think that in the sentimental field, I have always been passionate, quite whole. A bit of a quest for the absolute,” she declared. Before concluding lucidly that from now on, “it’s a bit doomed and hopeless”.
