The Yankees and the Dodgers have historically been two of the most successful clubs in the American baseball league, MLB.
The Dodgers won the fifth final last night and thus secured their eighth finals title, but it looked heavy.
“Will sting”
The Yankees went up 5-0 early, but then stood for what the AP news agency described as “one of the most memorable hits in the middle of a game of all time”.
– This will sting for the rest of the little one. I’m devastated, says Yankees manager Aaron Boone, according to the AP.
MLB record by Freeman
The Dodgers eventually won the game 7–6 and celebrated big.
Big hero in the final series was Freddie Freeman, who set a new MLB record by hitting a home run in the first four final games and was chosen as the World Series most valuable player.
– I am happy that I managed to top my form at the right time, he says.
Los Angeles has won eight times, tonight’s final win was the second in five seasons. New York was chasing its first title since 2009, previously the classic club has won the league 28 times.
The two have also met in several classic finals, first when the Dodgers were based in Brooklyn, New York, then moved to Los Angeles in the 50s.
