The reason: “Big trend in society”
She and Wallenberg at Arla Foods share the view that the sudden popularity of quail is due to the rising interest in exercise and healthy eating.
– There is a big trend in society today around health and well-being, and we can see that many Swedes increasingly value a good nutritional content and high protein content. Kvarg is a typical example of just such a product, says von Perglas, she says and continues:

– Other factors that influence are the strong training trend, which is very driving on, for example, social media, and our active lifestyle in Sweden.

Popular product returns: “Here to stay”
When the demand became greater than what Skånemejerier could supply, the problem was not in the amount of quark that could be produced, but in the lack of packaging. Now a temporary solution has been introduced with all-white packaging where the most popular quark varieties are packaged for grocery stores around the country.

– The demand for protein-rich alternatives has therefore completely taken off, and it seems that the trend is here to stay.
