Amazon’s first major action hero is officially returning, despite the series ending last year

Long before Reacher became the leading action series on Amazon Prime, the streaming service was able to do something different iconic fictional character successfully brought back to life. We’re talking about Jack Ryan. For four seasons, John Krasinski played the CIA analyst created by Tom Clancy. After that it was over.

At least that’s what all fans thought when Krasinski said goodbye to the role in an action-packed finale in July 2023. As it turns out, Amazon Prime has other plans. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Krasinski is returning as Jack Ryan once again – this time with an exciting twist.

Instead of a 5th season of the series there is a new Jack Ryan movie in the works that continues the series. When and especially how this film will be released is currently unclear. Before the Amazon reboot, Jack Ryan appeared on the big screen five times. Now the latest iteration of the character could also take that leap.

On Twitter, Amazon MGM Studios is working on the new Jack Ryan film officially confirmed. In addition, two other familiar stars from the series are set to return: In addition to Krasinski, we can look forward to Wendell Pierce (The Wire) and Michael Kelly (House of Cards) in the next action adventure.

The film is directed by Andrew Bernstein, who is very familiar with the character. He directed three episodes of the series and also served as an executive producer. Meanwhile, the script was written by Aaron Rabin, who produced six episodes and wrote five episodes.
