Charlie lives in rain-hit village in Spain: “Living in the aftermath of the storm”

Among the worst affected areas in Spain is Valencia province, where some areas received 200 millimeters of rain in just a couple of hours. Charlie Winbladh lives just outside Valencia.

The day after the storm, it is noticeable in the area that people are worried.

– I was going in to shop and wasn’t really prepared for how scared everyone would be. It was completely out of meat and vegetables and there were a lot of people and everyone was running around, she says.

Difficult to get to

The floods have caused major problems for residents to get anywhere.

– I realized that I have no way to get into town, I’m stuck here in the village I live in. Many people are stranded, says Charlie Winbladh.

The neighbors help each other

Charlie Winbladh has never been in a similar situation before in his life.

– It feels like a lot of work, it’s difficult. But it’s like you haven’t really understood what has happened.

In the middle of the chaos, the neighbors in the area where she lives help each other.

– But we help each other here, a guy I know here had his house completely flooded and then we were able to help. His cats live here with me now.
