PRIM ensures spooky adventures for Halloween and even convinces the streamer Gronkh, who ventures into the point & click game on Steam.
The spooky season has begun and with it some scary games are sprouting up. One of them comes from Germany from the developer Common Colors and is called PRIM. The game is currently receiving special attention because the well-known streamer Gronkh is also playing it in a series of Let’s Plays.
What kind of game is PRIM? PRIM is a classic old school point and click adventure game. This means that there are many small puzzles to solve in which objects have to be found and combined with each other. Dialogues with the numerous NPCs are just as important as exploring the rather dark game world.
Since PRIM originally comes from Germany, it has been set to music entirely in German. If you prefer English, you can also change the language.
What is PRIM about? The focus of the plot is the eponymous PRIM. After a long time, the girl has finally found her father – but he is none other than death personified, also known as Thanatos. Now Prim is condemned to spend time with him in the realm of the dead – something she doesn’t like at all. She hatches a plan to outwit death and escape, even if it brings out her dark side.
PRIM’s style is reminiscent of Tim Burton’s films, such as “A Nightmare Before Christmas” or “Coraline”. The style is cute on the one hand, but at times disturbing and scary on the other. Many inhabitants of the realm of the dead wear their eyes as earrings or lose limbs here and there.
Gronkh plays PRIM in the stream: “Now it’s a bit of daddy time”
PRIM is getting particular attention because the streamer Gronkh deals with it in detail and plays the game regularly on stream. In his typical, rather quiet manner, Gronkh speaks little during these streams and primarily lets the story take effect, but occasionally offers thoughts on the plot or possible decisions.
He seems to like the story about the daughter, who can’t stand her (sometimes clumsy) father, from the start.
If you are interested in PRIM, you can currently buy it on Steam for €20. Since the release was only a few days ago, there are only a few reviews – but as of now they are 95% positive.
If you don’t know whether PRIM is an option for you, it might be worth taking a look at Gronkh’s Let’s Plays, whose calm demeanor gives you a good impression of what the game is about and what makes it so charming. Things are a little more serious in a current thriller that deals with some pretty tough topics.
