This experiment will begin in November beware of fines

New measures on certain roads will soon come into force, with the risk for motorists of being caught out.

Many motorists will soon have to change their habits. An experiment will in fact begin in November on several roads in France. With the main aim of reducing noise pollution around certain cities, speed limits will be modified on several of the routes used every day by hundreds of thousands of vehicles. Lowering the speed to 50 kilometers/hour on the Paris ring road has obviously opened Pandora’s box and given ideas to different prefectures.

Those of Val-de-Marne and Seine-Saint-Denis have taken the plunge. The rules will change on two of the busiest highways in Île-de-France. The A86 motorway, known beyond our borders for its endless traffic jams, and the A4, which links Paris to Strasbourg, will be the subject of a test. For one year, the speed limit will drop from 90 to 70 km/h for all motorized vehicles. Obviously, the entire route is not affected, these are sections of a few kilometers during which you will have to be particularly vigilant to avoid the risk of being flashed.

It is on the A4, where an order was issued on October 18, that this modification should first be made, probably from the first days of November. The portion between Charenton-le-Pont and Saint-Maurice, two towns located a few kilometers from Porte de Bercy, will be limited to 70 km/h once the new traffic signs have been installed. On the A86, it is also on a few kilometers, between Saint-Denis and La Courneuve, in the 93 department, that driving at 90km/h will very soon be condemnable. The risk will be high for many drivers of being fined in places where traffic is on three or even four lanes.

The Île-de-France Roads Department (DiRIF) wants to significantly reduce noise pollution for local residents, particularly at night. By further limiting car speeds, it hopes to reduce the noise caused by road traffic in certain areas particularly affected by noise pollution.

For motorists, this reduction of 20 km/h will necessarily increase the risk of committing an offense. If you are caught driving at 90km/h instead of 70km/h on these two sections of the A86 and the A4, the fine will be 68 euros. Not to mention the loss of a point on your driving license.
