SMHI warns of a snowstorm in the Lapland mountains

A snowstorm is on its way and the risk of frostbite is described as high.
Now SMHI is warning people not to go out on
The Lapland mountains tonight.
– It will be difficult, says TV4’s meteorologist Ingrid Eronn.

SMHI has issued an orange weather warning on the Lapland Mountains for very strong winds and snow flurries. In several places, the winds are expected to reach storm force.

Now they warn against going out on the mountain unnecessarily, as it is expected to be very difficult to orientate and move around. In addition, the risk of frostbite is great, writes SMHI.

– It will be difficult. I would absolutely say it is dangerous. You shouldn’t go out on the mountain in this kind of weather, says TV4 meteorologist Ingrid Eronn.

Strong wind in the east

The warning applies between 21:00 tonight and 09:00 on Wednesday morning, but it may continue to blow strongly into the morning.

SMHI has also issued a yellow weather warning for very strong winds in parts of Norrbotten’s interior, from Jokkmokk up to Kiruna, during the night. Residents are asked to anchor loose objects and prepare for problems in traffic.

The warning in the east does not apply to combinations with snow, as the precipitation is expected to decrease when the storm leaves the mountains.

– It will be windy along the entire coastal strip, but the storm will pass rather quickly and during tomorrow, behind this, it will break up. Tomorrow it will be sunny in a large part of the country, says Ingrid Eronn.
